Mosquito madness on the way for Eastern Australia
Eastern Australia has gone through weeks of rain, but now the clouds are clearing and the weather is heating up, experts say a mass of mosquitos is on the way.
NSW Health Pathology’s Dr Cameron Webb said mosquitos “love warmth and wet weather” and so we will “certainly see an increase” in mosquitos after all the rain.
“It usually comes down to the smell of our skin, the bacteria, chemicals we sweat out, that cocktail of smells really draws some mosquitos in more than others.”
He said the best thing to do to avoid being bitten is “choose and use an insect repellent that you get from your local pharmacy or supermarket.”
